With 2.3 million visitors a year Puy du Fou is the second biggest theme park in France, just behind Disneyland. But there are no rides - just spectacular historical performances that take you from the Roman era through to the 20th Century. There are also illuminations and shows into the night. This fantastic theme park is just 30 mins away from the gite. Puy du Fou is 140 acres of spectacle for the whole family to enjoy.

Le Parc Oriental de Maulévrier is Europes biggest oriental gardens, it is celebrating its 40 anniversary in 2025 and is approximately 71 acres of gardens, lakes and forest.  Walking around the gardens is serene experience whatever the season from Cherry blossom in the spring to glorious displays of trees, the magnificent lake reflects it all. The night walks where the thousands of lights sparkle and reflect of the water really give you feel of being in the orient. It is only 20 mins away from Le Petit Gite du Roy

Futuroscope - from their website "Futuroscope is an extraordinary place where the real and the imaginary come together. Here, you can travel to Mars on a roller coaster, jump into a tornado, dance in the arms of a robot or meet the Rabbids." There are 40 attractions and rides to see as well as night time spectaculars as well.

Marais Poitevin

For a gentle (and cool) way to spend the day the Marais Poitevin - nestled between land and sea, the Marais Poitevin is a unique and timeless destination. Designated a Regional Nature Park, Ramsar site and Grand Site de France, it reveals its breath-taking beauty. You can hire a boat, go on a guided boat tour, ride your bikes, walk for miles or just picnic - everything you need for a tranquil day out.

Pescalis - Centre International Nature et Peche

Pescalis Park is the largest nature and fishing activity park in Europe . Based around the theme of fishing, it offers:

Pescalis is 10 minutes away from Le Petit Gite du Roy. Not only is it great for fishing enthusiast and beginners alike, it is a beautiful place to walk around and discover the local nature. The restaurant at the heart if L'Apitik offers beautifully cooked local food and is also open most days, 9-15h and 18h30 - 22h every day except Monday.

From Le Petit Gite du Roy you can also cycle or walk along La Voie Verte to Moncouton and on to Pescalis.

Les Machines de l'île in Nantes

Of course a visit to the area is not complete without visiting the amazing machines and contraptions at Les Machines de l'île in Nantes. Everything is inspired by Jules Vernon and the imagination of the engineers who work there. Step into a 'steam punk' world and witness the mechanical walking elephant, flying birds, waking spiders, giant carousel and much more. The elephant walks the streets around the attractions and sprays unsuspecting visitors if they get to close! But you can also ride the elephant and get a unique view.

The city of Nantes is only just over a hour away and not only have shops, restaurant and river fronts it is also has a beautiful chateau to explore.

If you like cycling or walking La Voie Verte are old converted railway lines that are now perfect for cycling, walking or running along.

Many parts of the network are covered with trees so even during hot weather its a lovely cool experience.

Le Petit Gite du Roy is only 500 meters away from La Voie Verte 3, and of course the private secure terrace at the gite is the perfect place to store your bikes if you are not using them.
